RG65 Stand

RG65 Stand

I required a durable, lightweight stand for my RG65 r/c sailboat. It had to be crafted from 15x15mm² aluminum profiles as readily available in local hardware stores. Unfortunately, the necessary accessories were only partially compatible with 15x15mm² profiles. I could obtain everything needed for 20x20mm², but this would be too heavy for a RG65. Therefore, I designed all connectors, feet, and end caps for 3D printing. Most parts can be manufactured from TPU, which is ideal for feet and end caps. It can also be used for 90-degree connectors, but I recommend securing it with a small self-tapping screw to prevent the connectors from slipping out of the tubes when carrying the model. TPU is not recommended for T-type connectors as it will deform under permanent loads and cannot support the weight of the boat. I made good experiences with PETG, which requires securing the connectors with a small screw.
