RG-42 Grenade

RG-42 Grenade

cults3d

Designed as a successor of the sort of over-engineered RGD-33. This simplified offensive grenade entered service in 1942 during the height of the second world war, and is still in use in some parts of the world. Simple, compact and carrying a lot more TNT, it filled the role well while taking much less complicated equipment to manufacture. They varied a bit in appearance due to the decentralised production during the war, so I modelled three different variants and the cast training grenade. Two different wartime fuses, the earlier UZRG-42 ("A") and the later UZRGM ("B"). Modelled in 1:1 to serve as a prop. Fuses are hollow and the function can be simulated by adding a spring. Threads are slightly smaller diameter than real ones to allow for a thicker wall. For most accurate appearance, cover the body after printing in thick olive green paint. The printed split pin should be replaced with a metal one if it's meant to be reused.
