RFID keychain holder/reader v2
thingiverse
This is a new start for something I created previously: a key holder with a pocket for those RFID-enabled keychain tags. RC522, found on https://de.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20191111162102&origin=y&SearchText=RFID+Kit+RC522, offers several of these tags. The purpose is similar to those key holders you find in hotel rooms: place the tag (attached to your keys) in the pocket and the RFID reader inside will detect it. When it recognizes the tag, it powers up the lights and flags my presence in the smarthome control system as present. Both the pocket and the top require a 180° rotation when printing. It's similar to its previous version https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3242266 (which has a more detailed description). What changed? - Redesign in Freecad, sources included - A window for a .91" OLED display - Mounting points to fix an ESP8266 nodemcu v2 (amica) with m2 screws - The pocket is now a separate object that attaches to the top by 3 small pins - no more need to print with support The top was designed to keep the RFID reader as close as possible to the surface. Too much distance had been a problem in the prior version, causing unreliable recognition of inserted tags. There's an update: I added an additional screw hole at the top of the top shell to allow a small clip that keeps the display in place (use something from a misprint with a 1mm hole for the screw). Things to keep in mind: The screw holes are a problem - you'll need to drill them manually to make the m2 screws fit. M2x20 at the 4 corners, m2x4 to fix the mcu and the clip. The RFID reader and display need glue to secure them - I use UHU patafix for that (recommended).
