RFID candy box

I approach the challenge of limiting my sweet tooth before Christmas with a clever solution. A crate stands ready, its lid opening only three times a day. This intricate mechanism is made possible by an ESP8266, essentially an Arduino with Wi-Fi capabilities, and a Raspberry Pi serving as a web server. The web server checks a database to determine if I'm allowed to indulge in sweets or not.
