revolving Hexagon for lithophanes
thingiverse
This is intended for 6 lithophanes, each measuring 78 mm in diameter, with a thickness of 2.8 mm, plus one round lithophane with a diameter of 122 mm. Parts Printing: * 6 corner.stl * 2 Hexagon2Round.stl * 1 lithoplateV2.stl * 1 Lithobase.stl Lithophane Printing: We print our lithophanes flat on the bed, not vertically. We use Cura version 3.6.0, and have found that it works best for us. First, we set up the most important settings, including a layer height of 0.1 mm, infill at 100%, and print thin walls. Then, we open an image, input the desired thickness and size, and let Cura do its job in computing both the .stl and .gcode files. Assembly: Before offering our lithophane as a gift, we add a small drop of glue to the bottom and top of each corner. This helps prevent the "lampshade" from breaking apart when handled. The rest of the parts cannot be glued, or they won't rotate properly and you won't be able to change the light bulb. Bill of Materials: * 1 standard socket for lampshades * 1 standard cable with switch and plug * 1 light bulb * 3 pads (similar to those used under chairs) - optional
