Revolver Cylinder Pen Holder

Pen holder that looks like a revolver handgun cylinder, designed in Fusion360 for CNC machining or 3D printing. I've included STP, STL, and SketchUp files. Model dimensions are 2.6 inches tall x 2.75 inches in diameter, with pen holes (chamber holes) measuring 5/8 inch (0.625) in width. These chamber holes are intentionally wide for accommodating fat turned-wood pens. The Fusion toolpaths are set up to start with a 2.75-inch diameter round stock, requiring 1.75 inches of tool stickout for the outside grooves, which have a draft-angle for machinability with normal tools having flute lengths of approximately 0.75 inch. As I used a router instead of a knee mill, the chamber holes are only shallowly machined and require finishing on a drill press with a 5/8-inch (0.625) drill bit. Be sure to check your router's Z travel before starting. If you begin with round stock like I did, the outside diameter of the part will not be machined, leaving it with a "mill finish" appearance, as shown in the pictures. I plan to achieve a matte finish by sandblasting my pen holder and then anodizing it. The finished part weighs just over 1 pound and is made from 6061 aluminum.
