Revised Filament Spool Sprocket (Quick Change)
thingiverse
Update: This upgrade eliminates sharp edges from my original quick change spool holder. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2067525 This spool sprocket is designed to make removing a spool of filament incredibly easy; as effortless as changing tires in high-speed NASCAR competitions, almost effortlessly so. No kidding, it makes removing nuts a thing of the past. It works with standard 608ZZ bearings or without, your preference. See my spool holder top mount as this is a perfect complement to that design but it functions just as well with most other standard spool holders/mounts. (The bearings fit snugly in place. Use your strength or a shop vice if needed to insert the bearings.) NOTE: Why two different Nuts? One nut has threads on only one-third of its surface for quick spin action, hence the quick change in my title. The other nut is fully threaded, requiring more effort to put on and remove. By having fewer threads on the nut, it's really easy to remove and secure, almost like a traditional butterfly nut. Visit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2009565 for my top-mounted spool holder.
