Revised Cam Lock Design
thingiverse
I designed a Cam Lock mechanism based on the webbing design from 58 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:879225, then made some key modifications. Firstly, I tweaked the curves to make it feed more smoothly. Secondly, I redesigned the cam with a smooth section when turned 180 degrees, which makes feeding the line in and removing it incredibly easy. All you have to do is rotate the cam and the line will slide out effortlessly. Thirdly, I designed it to have either two solid sides or one solid and one open side - just swap out one of the cover plates. Fourthly, I used 3mm perspex. The cam and cam plate are made up of two pieces of 3mm super glued together, but you can also use 6mm perspex for the centre if you prefer. Fifthly, I used clear perspex for the cover plates, which makes it easy to see the rope. The bolts are 3x15mm with nylon lock nuts. Have fun building!
