Revised 3x2x1 Rubik's Cube
thingiverse
The original 1x2x3 Rubik's cube from TomZ proved challenging to print on my MakerBot, prompting a search for an alternative design. This revised version requires only two unique parts and features larger grooves in the center pieces for improved printability. Although I haven't printed this yet, it has been uploaded for others to test and provide feedback before I give it a try this afternoon. A potential modification could be to eliminate the need for a nut/bolt in the middle by adding a snapping prong feature. For more information on this derivative design, visit http://makerblock.com/2010/07/new-design-rubiks-cube-sorta/. An updated version is now available with all parts in one sheet, eliminating the need to adjust multiple settings during printing. To assemble, print two copies of the STL file and attach using an M3x16 bolt/nut. Don't forget to apply stickers, scramble, unscramble, and share your experience at LRR (http://makerblock.com/2010/06/skeinforge-ui-suggestions/#footnote_0_1590).
