My Whirlpool Reverse Osmosis system employs a plastic plunger for auto-shut-off. Several years ago, I acquired a replacement plunger, which also ultimately failed (split into numerous fragments). This 3D printed replacement part has been in operation within our system for over a year without any issues. Print using Food Grade PLA and sanitize before installation. I utilized RAPTOR Series Black PLA, which possesses FDA approval for food contact and prints at 245 degrees Fahrenheit. Depending on your printer (and whether the final component features seams or small nubs), the part may necessitate light sanding to ensure a perfect fit as the plunger must move freely for proper operation.
