This is one of the final projects assigned to my students for the course INGE3809 (First semester 2014). This work was entirely done by my students. The machine was divided in 4 different sections. Each group had to take measurements of the physical machine parts located at the Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez and reproduce in FULL DETAIL a 3D model using Siemens NX 8.5.
It was a challenging project for them for two main reasons: it was their first semester at the campus ( first engineering course) with no previous experience using CAD and they had to assemble the model with the sections created by other classmates. In other words, it was an individual but collaborative work at the same time.
This is just to show what a first semester student can do with the correct guidance and motivation. I am very proud of them. More 3D models coming soon.
