Reverb G2 Cable Relief Support

Reverb G2 Cable Relief Support

The standard Reverb G2 cable support on the headset pops off very easily and does not provide any type of strain relief for cable's electrical connection to the HMD. This increases the probability that the connection may actually be inadvertently pulled out of the HMD while the connection is live and the HMD is in use, which in turn has the potential to short out components in the headset or cable. I experienced a hard USB failure on my first Reverb G2 after about 25 days of use with no issues, and I believe this was caused by a relatively gentle (and inadvertent) tug on the cable that dislodged the connector in the HMD while in use. I didn't want a repeat of this experience on my replacement Reverb G2, so I created this simple remix from a belt cable clip which provides a firm clip for the cable that can be attached to the side of the HMD head strap. I used some U Glu adhesive, but a good heavy duty double stick tape should do the trick as well. When installed, a gentle pull on the cable below the connector will eliminate any pull on the physical connection to the HMD. I'm using this along side the original cable clip, but I think it could just as easily be used to replace the original.
