A Fragment of an Ancient Shaft Rediscovered at Rochester Cathedral. This portion of a Caen stone shaft has been repurposed as part of the south elevation of the south nave clerestory in Rochester Cathedral, possibly originating from the c.1080 clerestory that was rebuilt with Caen stone after a devastating fire ravaged the structure in 1137. The original Romanesque clerestory gave way to the present Perpendicular windows in the late C15th. *A new photograph of this artifact will be taken, complete with a scale reference for clarity.* Further Research:
