Fragment of a Caen stone ashlar with a chamfer reutilized in the northern elevation of the north nave aisle wall of Rochester Cathedral. Possibly part of the circa 1080 north nave aisle window recesses that would have been recased in Caen stone after a fire occurred around 1137. These Romanesque windows were erased when the present Gothic windows were inserted. Forty feet (12.2 meters) of the north nave aisle wall was further rebuilt in 1670 (Palmer, 1897, p.27).
