Reuse Inland Filament Spool for Their Spooless Filament
thingiverse
Microcenter/Inland offers PLA+ in spoolless form at a $2 cheaper price point per kilogram. The empty spool costs $6, meaning it takes three spools to break even - and now that's no longer the case. Carefully cut an Inland PLA spool in half; precision isn't necessary. Smooth down the rough edges so they don't need to match perfectly. Print this out single-walled in vase mode. Place a sleeve over one half, fill it with spoolless filament, and press the other spool half onto it - friction will keep everything in place. I'm creating a threaded hub to secure the two sides together. I used PrusaSlicer in vase mode, selecting "1" for perimeters and turning off thin wall detection. It took some tweaking, but the design finally appeared in the preview.
