Reusable Mask Frame_MTB
thingiverse
This is a remix from the now widely shared "Montana Mask" (https://www.billingsclinic.com/foundation/3d-printed-surgical-mask/) which was inspired by Thingiverse contributor lafactoria3d (https://www.thingiverse.com/lafactoria3d/about).\r\n\r\nThe model has been revised to realign the XYZ coordinates so that scaling in Cura happens correctly, as previously, scaling z would change the y dimension.\r\n\r\nThat aside, the mask from Billings has a significant flaw. Even though the filter unit fits firmly into the hole in the mask, potentially contaminated air can still bypass the filter (see image). My modifications place the filter over an external housing. The filter material is secured by double offset zip ties (12"x2.5mm).\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the mask has been scaled +18% in the Z direction and -1% in both X and Y directions from the original MontanaMask design; I don't like having my mouth on the filter frame.\r\n\r\nDISCLAIMER: I am not listing this mask as a means to help combat the current pandemic. It is merely another potential tool which people can try out at their own risk. Obviously, masks like these need to be properly fitted, equipped with the appropriate filter material, and tested before being "approved" for the task they were intended. Again, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.\r\n\r\nStay healthy everyone.\r\n\r\n<b>Update (4-2-20):</b> I added another variant for folks with smaller faces. This one is still +18% in the z, but -15% to -16% in the x and y. Also, more space has been added for different sized zip ties.
