REUSABLE FACIAL MASK RESPIRATOR FRAME COVER
thingiverse
I didn't design this, I got it from here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/reusable-facial-mask-frame. All credit goes to the designer; I just made it easier to print on FDM printers - if you've got an SDM printer, use their design instead. I included a file called mask_inner_piece_size_l_support_only to minimize the amount of support material needed for printing this. The Mask cover A's design was modified to include tabs that hold the inner piece in place. Since I'm using Simplify3D, I don't know how to do these steps with other slicers, but here's what you need to do: Import mask_inner_piece_size_l_support_only and mask_inner_piece_size_L into Simplify3D. Select both models, go to Edit > Align Selected Models Origin, so they'll line up. Then select both and go to Edit > Group Selection; now they're grouped. Double-click the part; a menu will open on the right. Go down to Change Rotation and rotate X Rotation minus (-) 90 degrees. Open your process and go to Advanced Settings > Thin Wall Behavior > Change Internal Thin Wall Type to Allow Single Extrusion Fill, then close the popup. Make another process by duplicating the first one. Open the second process and go to Advanced Settings > Thin Wall Behavior > Change External Wall Type to Allow Single Extrusion Wall. In the popup, click on "Select Models" and choose mask_inner_piece_size_l_support_only; click OK and close the popup. Open the first process and select mask_inner_piece_size_L. You'll need a skirt for this - my settings are: Skirt Outlines: 7, Skirt Layers: 1, Skirt Offset: 0 (attach it to the part for stability during printing). Don't forget to add support where there are overhangs. If you import parts, remember to add them to Process 1. Scaling down by 10% will change the size from L to M or XL if scaling up by 10%, and scaling down by 20% will make it S-size. If you import the outer part A, rotate it -73 degrees on the X-axis; you'll only need support material at the underside. Try rotating the inner piece to reduce more of the support pillars.
