Reuleaux Car

I created this Reuleaux Car based on an idea I saw on Twitter. Reuleaux triangles are constant width shapes that can act as circles in specific situations. Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Post-Printing Assembly First, I attached the wheels using a standard coffee stirrer straw and added a thin bead of hot glue around the outside for traction. How I Designed This This is version five. First, I tried several different versions of concentric Reuleaux triangles but they all had various levels of bounciness. I wanted a smooth ride for my car so I continued to experiment. V1 was unsuccessful due to its design. I then created V2 with improved performance. Next, I designed V3 by attempting to round out the points on the wheels. In V4, I tried rounding everything but still encountered problems. Realization After watching a video repeatedly, I realized that their outside wheel wasn't a true Reuleaux triangle. Measuring the width of my wheels revealed that even though the overall width was constant, the distance between the inner and outer wheels varied. For version 5, I made the inner wheel a genuine Reuleaux triangle and the outer one a faux Reuleaux triangle. It's fun to say and it works!
