RetroTV for Adafruit HDMI 5" Backpack
thingiverse
Wanted a retro TV for RetroPie that fits Adafruit's HDMI 5" backpack (product ID 2260). The body was printed in light cherry Laywoo-D3 filament, but it's clear I accidentally printed each half at different temperatures. As a result, the two halves are easily visible. This custom build also requires an additional analog input via a 3.5mm jack because the HDMI screen itself lacks audio capabilities. To accommodate this need, I remixed the design to include screw mounts and added a back panel with built-in passthrough connections. A small dial on the bottom serves as an on/off switch for the device. In future versions, I plan to add an LED indicator for the PowerBoost. Inside the case, you'll find an Adafruit PowerBoost Charger that allows me to run the RetroPie on battery power using a 6600 mAh Lithium-Ion Battery Pack. Additionally, there's a port in the back where I can plug in a Raspberry Pi and charge it from the same battery. Here are all the parts used for this custom build: * Adafruit HDMI 5" Display Backpack - With Touch (you can substitute it with the one without touch capabilities if needed) * Adafruit Powerboost 1000 * 6600 mAh Lithium-Ion Battery Pack * A USB hub to split the power supply * A tactile on/off switch * An X-Mini UNO speaker * An HDMI right-angle adapter * Panel adapters: + Micro-USB to Micro-USB for charging the battery pack + USB-A to USB-A for powering an external USB port connected to a Raspberry Pi Miscellaneous items used include: * Two short micro-USB cables for powering the display and speaker * A short 3.5mm patch cable to connect the 3.5mm jack on the panel with the X-Mini UNO speaker. Print settings: * Printer: Flashforge Creator * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Notes: This design should print without supports, but due to its size and shape, it may need a raft to prevent curling during printing.
