Retro Style PC Case Badge
thingiverse
This is a badge I designed while making dumb bets with my friends. I wanted something that suggested the old 1960s - early 1970s computing aesthetic. I wanted to design something that would suggest the old IBM, UNIVAC, Tandy, or HAL 9000 case badges. To wit, I designed this. I knocked it out in SketchClub on my iPad, carried it over to Inkscape to turn it into an SVG, then played around with it in Blender to make it a plausible 3D object. I'm still tweaking this, so feel free to play around with the settings to make it work properly. You may do whatever you like to this in terms of remixing. I don't care. I only designed this thing to put on the monitor I use for my old game consoles. (ZIGGURAT, incidentally, is an acronym. The Z-axis Integrated Games and Graphic Utilization and Recreational ApparaTus. It's a tortured government-esque acronym for what is essentially a pile of consoles run through a VCR.) Anyway, I'll put up pictures of the finished product whenever I actually get around to painting it. It's a rather handsome object, I think, and I hope you'll agree. If you like it, I can probably do something like it on request. If you use it in a remixed project, I only ask that you credit me. IMPORTANT NOTES: I am extremely new to 3D modeling! This isn't exactly perfect or even around the edges. Importantly, YOU WILL NEED TO ADJUST THE OBJECT'S SIZE! I recommend an x-axis of 30mm for the best combination of visibility and usability.
