Retro Spin Top

Retro Spin Top

I remember designing my tops as a kid, spinning them with nothing more than a shouldered nail used as a tip. My brother and I would compete in the hallway, our checkerboard tile floor providing a perfect target for our tops. We'd focus on accuracy of throw and how long a top spun before coming to rest. Today's tops have come a long way, boasting high-quality bearing tips and specialized materials that give them an edge. Designs vary from basic to sporty to competition-grade models. You can find online tutorials showing the correct way to wind and throw a top for maximum spin time. This simple top of mine may not be capable of complex tricks, but it's still a blast to spin around. Why not give it a try?
