Retro Sphericons
myminifactory
This awe-inspiring geometry is known as a sphericon. It boasts a single continuous surface that enables it to roll along a very curious, wobbly path. This is my "retro" variation, featuring a hexasphericon (type A) and an antihexasphericon (type B). Download includes a split version optimized for FDM printing. The center connector piece may need to be scaled down by 1 or 2 percent depending on your printer settings or you can simply glue the halves together. Print two identical halves, offsetting them by 60 degrees when assembling. This model can be printed with a 5% infill, but it tends to roll better when heavier, making a solid copperfill version quite appealing. Scale as desired. A pictured model was printed in Fillamentum Extrafill PLA.
