Retractor / Lift Spring Arms 15-40cm reach
thingiverse
Lightweight spring arms designed to provide a gentle upward tug for lifting items that require minimal effort. These arms are specifically crafted for extension springs measuring approximately 14mm x 4mm in diameter when at rest; I sourced mine from a discarded printer and am uncertain about potential alternative sources. Additionally, you will need a 3x12mm steel rod and two M3x12 grub screws, along with the desired attachment method for securing the ends (I employed paracord). I created these spring arms to lift bowden cooling tubes, assuming that they would offer a more consistent lifting force throughout their range compared to elastic alternatives; they provide a subtle yet sufficient pull when used in pairs. Although my design is untested, I believe it has potential for various applications. Honestly, I will be surprised if anyone finds practical use for these spring arms, but I am sharing them nonetheless due to reasons a) personal satisfaction and b) their visually appealing appearance compared to traditional bungee cords. Beefier versions might make attractive supports for a flying extruder, offering a unique aesthetic appeal.
