Retractable Xacto blade holder
thingiverse
This retractable blade holder is designed for medium to light duty. I designed it around the Xacto #11 and similar blades. Push the slider button down and slide into three locking positions: to replace the blade, to use and to fully retract the blade for storage. To minimize slack, I designed the parts with close tolerances. Depending on printer and material, parts may need a little cleanup and filing to make it slide and lock smoothly. The handle halves snap together but that is not enough to make the blade holder into a solid tool during use, so once the blade holder is assembled and tested, glue the handle halves together along the seam line with CA glue. The only part that needs supports is the blade base. All other parts can be oriented and printed without supports. Xacto blades are very sharp, please use eye protection and other appropriate protection when using this tool.
