Retractable Razor Blade Utility Knife

Retractable Razor Blade Utility Knife

This remix takes inspiration from Talon V2 Utility Knife by HallPrecision, but with some key modifications. The original design was great, but I wanted to improve upon it by removing the logo from the front and the website address from the back, making it more secure in place. I found that holding the blade portion while cutting could be a challenge due to the knife sliding back in. To resolve this issue, I experimented with different designs until arriving at this solution. The flexible locking pin remains unchanged, but now slides up a ramp and into a notch for added security. The notch is designed long enough to allow users to push it open with their fingernail, releasing the lock. However, this modification does require more effort to slide the mechanism back and forth compared to the original design. If you prefer the fast-sliding mechanism of the non-locking version, sticking with the original might be the better choice. To ensure a smooth printing experience, I split the two halves into separate STL files, making each one 1% larger than the original. While my printer is known for its dimensional accuracy, I found that the razor blades were just a bit too tight at their original size. To accommodate this, users can adjust the size in their slicer to suit their specific needs. Finally, I added a small amount of width to the knob that holds the blade in place when retracted, making it tighter against the blade for improved functionality.
