Retractable Dog Leash Repair

I had two dog leashes fray near the spot where the Flat lead meets the rope that feeds into the retraction unit. In fact, one of them was down to just one thread - easy enough to fix. All I had to do was push the rope through the connector and reroute it through the flat leash and connector before tying a knot in place. The second one was different, though. The section where it would be routed and tied off was on the side and sealed with a plug that refused to budge. I designed a replacement connector based on my first design and it worked perfectly on the very first try.
