I designed and built this printer because my MakerBot was worn out (see the last photo with the mess of red plastic). Initially I was going to make it HUGE with a 1 cubic meter print area. So that's how the rails motors and drives are designed for a structure that size. Reality soon sunk in and I wound up reducing the dimensions based on what would fit on my bench and based on the spare parts that I had. The end result is a print envelope of 24" X, 12" Y, and 10" Z.The basics specs of the machine are as follows:1" square extrusion frame15mm linear rails1204 ball screws for Z10mm GT2 belts for the Core XY driveNEMA 24 for XY and NEMA 17 steppers for ZDuet 3 6HC controller with Raspberry Pi 3B+Direct Drive, Water Cooled Hotend1.75mm Filament.1400 Watt AC Heated Bed700 Watt 24VDC HotendThe goal was to heat fast, and print fast with much more precision and more rigidity than my old MakerBot 2X. So here it is finished. All the CAD files were created using AutoDesk Inventor 2015.The schematics and PCB are designed using the ExpressPCB software.https://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCBSetup.zip
