Reticle Rock - a Nevada Petroglyph

Measuring angular changes in celestial objects' night sky positions involves sighting from one viewing point towards the object. A total angle of 46 degrees signifies seasonal shifts in planets', sun's, and moon's positions, revealing the month. Knowing this angle allows pinpointing the day within a two-day margin, given the moon's phase. This knowledge is accessible anytime during the year when stars and moon are visible. The sunset position suggests that mid-spring was captured at the time of this model. The rock in question formed part of an ancient astronomical observatory discovered near a 4,900-year-old mummy in Nevada. This site may have been inhabited for more than 11,000 years on the shores of ancient Lake Lahontan, as evident from 24 images.
