Retainer ring removal tool for a Saab fuel pump
thingiverse
Here is a tool I made to remove the retainer ring for my Saab fuel pump. It took an eternity to print (8-9 hours, 0.3mm layers, 25% hex infill, PLA on a Printrbot Simple Metal with a brim) and filled most of the build volume, but it printed flawlessly. The design is tailored to my 2000 Saab 9-5, which has a mild turbo engine, not the high-performance version. However, I believe this tool should fit most of its contemporaries in the same series and possibly other models as well. I've included the OpenScad file for anyone interested in creating their own version. You'll need to use a long screwdriver or rod inserted through the holes to provide enough leverage to dislodge the retainer ring. This tool is decidedly over-engineered, which isn't necessary for its intended purpose. It could easily be reduced to thinner cross-sections and minimal infill without sacrificing functionality. In fact, I would estimate that this tool is roughly 1cm taller than it needs to be for a precise fit and successful removal of the retainer ring.
