Resting Robot Cellphone Stand

thingiverse

This is my first model on Thingiverse, a cute little robot that looks a bit tired but is always happy to hold your cellphone for you. Don't have a 3D printer? Just want one printed for you? Buy one at my shop There are three versions of this robot: V1 - All In One Piece This is the first version, it prints in one piece and because of this it's the most solid and best-aligned version of the model However, it requires support between the body and the head and this support is kind of a pain to remove In Cura you need to set support type to "Everywhere" I printed it in PLA, 0.2mm layer height, 10% infill, 0.8 shell width and a raft - but those are probably not important V2 - No/Less Support This version uses two different STL files, one for the body and one for the head and eliminated the annoying support from V1 The body STL does not need support at all You need to rotate the head STL before printing make sure the head is flat on the bed in Cura use the "Lay flat" option You can print it in one of two orientations Neck up - that should print with no support Face up - that will need just a little bit of support but the face will look better I print both on the same bed, head face up, with support Cura is smart enough to not generate supports for the body The head-body connector should fit you may need to remove the support material from the neck with a knife The connector is designed for a 0.4mm nozzle I printed it in PLA, 0.2mm layer height, 5% infill, 1.2 shell width and a raft - but those are probably not important V3 - With cable guide The third version adds a little tunnel to let you pass the phone's USB cable inside the body It's a little bulkier thicker legs and body to allow room for the cable also with phones with large rounded corners it's less stable because the force of the USB cable pushes the phone The cable comes out of the robot's left side your left when looking at the robot from the front right from the robot's point of view It does not fit phones where the USB connector is on the bottom if your phone's connector is on the right you can mirror the STL This version uses the same head as V2 please read the head printing instructions above in the V2 section The body does not need any support I printed it in PLA, 0.2mm layer height, 5% infill, 1.2 shell width and a raft - but those are probably not important The model was designed in SketchUp Make and the STL cleaned up in the online netFabb Print Settings Printer Brand Robo 3D Printer R1 ABS + PLA Model Rafts Doesn't Matter Supports Yes Resolution 0.2 Infill 5
