This is a dust mask like no other. no more fogged up safety glasses, no more uncomfortable straps always getting tangled up. A real game changer for anyone who needs to wear a mask for long periods of time while sanding or grinding and also wants to have a thick bushy beard. i have been using this setup for 10 years now and it is the best way to protect your lungs from nasty stuff. it naturally closes off your nose during use but can be used with your choice of nose clip if youre concerned. During use the condensate from your breath will come out of the valves at the bottom of the mouthpiece, this is normal and is usually vented back through the filters in other masks causing them to clog, because no moisture finds its way to the filters they end up lasting an exceedingly long time. the sides of the main body are removable so you can take the resporator on and off, the side units both have their own non return valves. there are 2 versions of the rear of the resporator for either 3M filter couplings or Protector filter couplings, more mounting options will be included in the future, both filter types have their own O-rings that should be printed in flexible filament and installed behind each filter. this is the first fully printed version of this system and will be improved as time goes on, gotta start somewhere. The mouthpiece is a standard snorkel bit and can be purchased online or just steal one off your snorkel set that you never use like i did i made the valve diaphragms from balloon rubber (thin silicone sheet would work better), made by punching a circle just smaller than the valve opening and then punching a 2mm hole into the center of the circle. the sides of the resporator have a series of rubber O-rings to seal them to the main body when pushed inside, i used standard garden tap O-rings available at any hardware store but could also be EPDM O-rings if they can be sourced. you will have to experiment with different sizes to find the size that allows you to get the most comfortable fit. You pull the sides out when you want to take the unit off so its in your best interest to get this part working right. The clear tubing is used in fish tanks and can be purchased at most hardwares, the length of the tubes should be a custom length for you. When wearing the mask you should have enough length on the tubes to allow you to look fully up and down, side to side movement is slightly restricted due to the design but is manageable. Im sure everyone will have their own ways of printing but ive tried to make all the models print easily in a specific orientation, all surfaces in contact with seals or O-rings should be as smooth as possible to achieve a good seal so dont be afraid to get in there with a file. Hopefully this dust mask helps you and i look forward to seeing remixes :)
