A DIY Upgrade for the Nanohack N95 Mask: https://copper3d.com/hackthepandemic/ The original design boasts a 16cm² filter, but I doubled up on filters and enlarged it to a total of about 40cm². To create the mask, print at 100% scale (with three layers) for small faces or 110% scale (with four layers) for standard-sized faces. Activate your printer's ironing feature to smooth out the surface and close any microscopic holes that may have formed. Once printed, heat the mask with a hairdryer or small torch until it forms to the contours of your face. Work one piece at a time to preserve its shape. Be cautious not to overheat the screw filters, as they can deform easily. I used tissue paper between my face and the mask when using a torch to prevent burns. This simple precaution makes all the difference. Feel free to customize the mask by inserting your own filter material and adding foam around the edges for a snugger fit. While I'm not an expert in face masks, I wouldn't recommend this DIY upgrade if you're serious about protecting yourself from viruses. It's likely more of a clever gadget than a reliable protector.
