Respirator COVID19 Concept

Respirator COVID19 Concept

thingiverse

Open-source design concept for low-cost mechanical respirator based on manual resuscitator or "self-inflating bag," which is a hand-held device commonly used to provide positive pressure ventilation to patients who are not breathing adequately, according to Wikipedia's definition. Three 608 bearings are required to bring this design to life. This design leverages the simple "car window" motor coupled in the eccentric gear, as depicted in pictures. Alternative shapes and eccentricity of the disc can result in varying air pressure and release rates. The design is available at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/d3R13CpPf5m, where three separate printable parts (base, arm, and gear) are included. A copy of the gear with additional holes to adjust excursion has been added as a March 28th update. While the simple gear boasts a 50mm excursion, the adjustable one can be set for 30, 40, or 50 mm excursion. This concept aims to stimulate further development and may require additional mechanical refinement and testing before it works properly. The following additions have been made: * Adjustable Gear_R2_Respirator_COVID19_Concept.stl added: three sets of holes are included to adjust the excursion of the eccentric disc (original 50mm, 40, and 30mm). * Alternative Gear_R3_Respirator_COVID19_Concept.stl added: an alternative shape adapted from the OxyGEN project at https://github.com/ProtofyTeam/OxyGEN is used to replace the eccentric disc. * Gear_R3_Respirator_COVID19_Concept.stl added: print all gear pieces and the "disc" with the alternative shape.
