Resp-o-Rator filter adapter

For individuals sporting facial hair, most respirator masks prove ineffective. One low-cost, beard-friendly option is the Duxerity Resp-O-Rator, but its proprietary filter size forces users to purchase filters directly from the manufacturer. The Resp-O-Rator's filter appears to be a HEPA N95 type, though documentation is limited. Those seeking N100 or oily particle-tolerant filters must invest in a larger and more expensive face mask. Following the Camp wildfire in Butte County, California, I rapidly depleted my stock of Resp-O-Rator-compatible filters. To address this issue, an adapter was designed to accommodate standard filters. The sole requirement is an O-ring, which can be sourced from PartsmasterPro under part number 217. This product is readily available at Home Depot in the sink repair section, boasting dimensions of 1-1/16'' OD x 7/8'' ID x 3/32''. Alternative solutions likely exist. The adapter's design has been optimized for standard respirator filters, assuming sufficient pressure can be applied. Attached images demonstrate that the 3M filter features tabs which may cause slight difficulties with the O-ring, but careful adjustment ensures a proper seal under normal conditions. A Fusion 360 file is included, enabling users to modify clearances and re-upload their revised designs. Enhancements such as support for larger gaskets are highly recommended. Initially, I considered printing the adapter using flexible filament, but prioritized a swift implementation with minimal complications.
