Resonating compliant mechanism

Resonating compliant mechanism

The model can be used to show how resonance works. Hold the main holding bar and pull one of the two rigid bars connected by cruciform flexures. As this bar starts oscillating, the other bar will also begin to resonate at the same frequency as the exciting bar. Use linear supports for the flexures and refer to the second image for instructions on how to orient the model for printing. A screenshot of the model with a flash print slicer is provided for reference on how to support the print. Be careful when removing supports that hold up thin elements (cruciform hinge/flexure) of the model, as damaging the flexures will make the model useless. Some users were unable to print the model because CURA ignores very thin sections, in this case the cruciform flexure itself. An additional model with a finer mesh has been uploaded if you have trouble slicing the model with CURA. The video shows the mechanism with keyholes in the links, but the files provided do not contain them. This does not affect the working of the model. The unmodified model used in the video is also available for download. If the other model does not work, try this one instead. Let me know if you have any trouble printing the model and I will be happy to help. This is my first upload to thingiverse, so please be patient with any mistakes that may have been made. You can see the working of the model in action at https://youtu.be/MLpoYAVOsUI
