Resin vat case - MOAI, also for Formalbs Form1
thingiverse
We crafted a case for the MOAI resin vat that should also work with the Formlabs Form 1 vat. This handy option allows you to store the vat outside the MOAI and remove the last bits of resin still inside even after pouring out most of it. This case is made from 3mm MDF, but could also be made from black opaque 3mm acrylic. It's laser-cut with an inner gasket so the bottom of the vat doesn't touch the bottom of the case, and an outer gasket to ensure that light and air can't really get inside. Gaskets are 2mm EVA foam. Also, it has a removable corner raiser that lets the last bit of resin flow into the lower left hand corner, making it easier to pour out when this is inserted. The lower frame around the vat is fairly low, so it's easy to insert or remove the vat once the lid is removed. Additionally, the lower part or top can also be put over the vat inside the MOAI if you want to leave it overnight. Cut from 3mm MDF and 2mm or 3mm EVA foam. Instructions are included in the SVG file. Or, if you like this and want a custom-made one as a self-assembly kit, let us know and we can make it for you. The cost is $14 + shipping for the MDF version, $31 + shipping for the black acrylic version. You could also spray paint the MDF version.
