Resin Jar
thingiverse
The Resin Jar is a threaded jar designed to hold liquids ranging from 50 to 250 milliliters in size (50ml, 75ml, 100ml, 130ml, 150ml, and 250ml). The top and 50ml jar are printed at 50% for the 10ml jar. New features have been added to version 2 of the Top, which now has an outer lip enhancing the lid seal. Tests show no leaks from a water-filled jar standing on its lid for 24 hours when the lid is printed at 0.2mm in wood PLA. These jars are designed for temporary storage and should be used within the average resin printer vat's capacity of 100 to 130 ml. The jar should never be filled above its narrowest point, as this can cause leaks. The top threads into the narrow area creating a nearly water-tight seal that depends greatly on the printer, material, and settings used when printing. The inner lid has an indentation for adding a rubber band to enhance the seal. It's best to store these jars upright, avoiding potential leaks. For resin storage, it's recommended to use opaque materials such as black, dark colors, and deep reds that block out as much light as possible. Tests were printed on an FDM printer, but some may be made with a resin printer to sidestep issues inherent in printing liquids. Wood was used for some tests, but PLA proved to have the best water-tight surface in its base. It's suggested coating the interior with a thin layer of resin and curing it to better seal the layered interior. Coating the wooden PLA prints has made them useful for storing resins. Otherwise, they're suitable for storing powders, pills, thick gels, and paint.
