Republic Class Star Destroyer
thingiverse
The Republic-class Star Destroyer was crafted by Rendili StarDrive for the New Republic's fleet. Designed by Walex Blissex, a renowned architect and former Rendili designer, it boasted a unique shape that spoke volumes about significant influence from the Mon Calamari Shipyards. This innovative design was touted as a Rendili creation to draw attention away from the Galactic Empire, while secretly showcasing the expertise of the Mon Calamari. The Republic-class Star Destroyer stood out for its efficiency, requiring only one-fifth the crew size and costing half as much as an Imperial-class vessel. Yet, it packed a punch with 20 percent more firepower than an Imperial I-class ship. However, it still lagged behind the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer and the various Super Star Destroyers. The Republic-class Star Destroyer was equipped with 40 heavy turbolaser batteries, 40 heavy turbolaser cannons, 20 ion cannons, and 10 tractor beam projectors. It also boasted a Class 2 hyperdrive, identical to that found on the Imperial-class. Measuring 1,250 meters in length, the Republic-class Star Destroyer was significantly smaller than its Imperial counterpart at 1,600 meters. To compensate for this reduced size, it sacrificed cargo space and endurance. The Republic-class held enough supplies to operate for two years without resupply, a feat matched by the Imperial I-class but surpassed by the Imperial II-class. Aboard each Republic-class Star Destroyer, a single regiment of 3,200 ground troops could be accommodated, along with a standard New Republic wing of 72 fighters. The ships typically carried long-range starfighters, such as X-wings and Y-wings, rather than short-range fighters like Defenders and K-wings. I convert these models as a labor of love to make them accessible to fans worldwide. I strive to obtain permission from each creator, but sometimes this proves challenging. My goal is to present iconic Star Wars models in 3D printable format for enthusiasts to enjoy.
