Reptile S800 Sky Shadow Motor Mount - 12 mm
pinshape
This motor mount is designed specifically for the Reptile S800 Sky Shadow wing model, although it could potentially fit other models as well. The design prioritizes minimum weight and maximum strength, allowing the motor to be moved 12 mm back into cleaner air to reduce noise levels while running. It may also accommodate a larger propeller. In contrast, the optional mount sold by Banggood stands at 11 mm tall. One version of this design features chamfered holes for countersink head bolts that attach directly to the motor, whereas another version has flat holes. To produce this part using 3D printing, set your resolution to 0.2 mm, infill to 30%, and choose PETG filament for its strength and layer adhesion properties. If you're working with a typical 0.4 mm nozzle, be sure to reduce the minimum extrusion width in your slicer to 50%. This is necessary because there's a 0.3 mm gap between perimeters at the post surface that might not get filled otherwise. To assemble this mount securely, use 16 mm M3 bolts to attach it to the carbon fiber/wood plate sandwich. If needed, ream the holes with a 3 mm drill bit beforehand. One method for attaching the nuts is to epoxy them into the wood plate flush with its surface, taking care not to get any epoxy on the threads. Add a small amount of epoxy around each nut using a toothpick to make it extremely secure. Once cured, you can glue or screw the carbon fiber plate onto place. It's also suggested that you rough up the nuts and plates slightly with sandpaper before gluing them together. However, be cautious not to inhale any nasty carbon dust and wash your hands thoroughly after sanding.
