RepRap X-ends for Misumi leadscrews and Igus bushings
thingiverse
Real leadscrews are an excellent upgrade for RepRap printers as they overcome issues with threaded rods such as bending and burrs, which aren't designed for motion they're used for. This design includes a pair of X-ends that hold leadscrew nuts. The bearing column has been redesigned to simplify the structure and provide proper support for press-fit Igus bushings. You can purchase these bushings from Techpaladin.com. If holes seem too small, you may need to adjust them with a reamer or Dremel tool. Leadscrews and nuts compatible with these X-ends can be bought from Misumi. Part numbers are MTSKR8 for leadscrew nuts and MTSR8-[length in millimeters] for leadscrews. Prusa Mendels require two units of MTSR8-200, while MendelMax printers need two units of MTSR8-350 (or 360 if using an optional thrust bearing). The modified .scad files are available and may have additional dependencies that can be grabbed from Josef Prusa's GitHub page. The designer also has Igus bushing-compatible Y-carriage and X-carriage holders on Thingiverse. An update was made to the file for more accurate hole diameters and shallower pressure pads in the X rod tunnels, reducing the likelihood of cracking during assembly. For installation, insert a leadscrew nut into the bottom piece with the slit aligned, then secure it with a M3 screw. After that, put Igus bushings in the top and bottom of the bushing tube, adjusting if needed due to FDM printing variances.
