We rescued a discarded 3D Systems Cube 3 from the dumpster, just to see what we could do with it. I started tearing it down to get a closer look. As it turns out, the frame is incredibly solid, the linear components are top-notch, and this thing makes for an amazing base to build on. For its size - 170mmx170mm - the machine is surprisingly compact and lightweight. The aluminum removable bed is a nice touch, too. I've added some rubber feet for stability. I also mounted a DUE+RADDS board, a groovemount hotend (B3 Pico in this case), an E3D titan as a bowden, and normal microswitch endstops. This thing prints like a dream. I'll be uploading the photos and STL files later on. If there's enough interest, I might come back and walk through the hardware components needed to replicate this build. Cube 3s are out there collecting dust, and they're dirt cheap on eBay. It's been a really fun project so far. UPDATE: The Pico hotend was leaking all over the place for me... so I swapped it out for an E3D lite6. Photos and files have been added.
