Reprap, Prusa, Z-axis coupler stabilizer
thingiverse
This assembly utilizes a spiral cut coupler on the z-axis, which is stabilized by a thrust washer assembly to eliminate end-play and correct wobble in the leadscrew. For Prusa users, two spiral cut couplers, four M3 x 50mm socket head screws, and two 8mm I.D. thrust washers are required. If necessary, new lead screws may be needed as well. Follow the illustrated instructions while keeping the assembly loose and separating the motor and spacer with business cards. Apply moly lube on the clamping fasteners for even torquing and tighten them with a hex-wrench, also using thread locker or epoxy glue on both the lead screw and motor shaft. Finally, remove the business card shim and tighten the four long screws while ensuring proper spiral cut collapse. OpenSCAD files are not used; .stl files will be the starting point, with alternative export formats available in Solidworks if needed.
