Reprap Prusa I3 Y-axis motor mount
thingiverse
The Y-axis motor mount component failed on my HICTOP printer. The motor was slightly swaying back and forth while printing, causing the belt to become loose and skip steps in the process. This resulted in a misaligned Y-axis position. I removed the mounting piece, took precise measurements, and designed a new one based on those specifications. Several improvements were made to my design. 1) The screw is now secured with a surface fastener instead of relying solely on the nut for support. 2) An extended beam was added under the motor screw to prevent any twisting of the mounting plate. 3) A L-direction extension with two screw holes was added to securely hold the motor in place against the back plane. 4) The bottom of the motor had approximately 10 mm clearance from the table surface, causing it to hang in the air and putting excessive weight on the mounting piece. I extended the bottom of the mounting piece to sit on top of the table, redistributing some of the force to the table. My new design functions well now. I hope this solution can help you resolve similar issues as well.
