To maintain the filament's alignment on the hobbed bolt extruder, I created a guide after noticing that unspooling's arc would displace it from markings, affecting print quality. Most guides, like plates with holes, worked but increased resistance, causing similar problems. My solution is a tiny guide fitting on the extruder's resistance arm bolt, floating for adjustment if needed. It provides minimal resistance and is easy to print in just a few minutes. Try it with the filament guide from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:62386 and spool brackets that include skateboard bearings for flawless prints.
