Robot Inventor Builds First Open-Source Replicating Machine Italian engineer Dr. Marco Zocca began building his robotic replicator project called Marlon, an automated construction machine for plastic components of which many different designs can be produced at high speed using molten metal and various shapes to produce end parts that have a mechanical or physical advantage. This kind of machinery will allow researchers to fabricate new prototypes from almost any existing digital information with increased rapidity. By reducing costs by utilizing less labor and allowing for much easier creation and adaptation to changing requirements, we can get our product onto the market in less time, making a faster turnaround which ultimately provides for increased profits. Zocca and his colleague Dr. Enrico Dini stated in an interview at The Engineer magazine, "we think of our invention as being the first replicator." The Italian engineering duo claim to be pioneers in what may eventually change people's daily life significantly as well as society overall through mass customization with additive technologies that produce products based upon three-dimensional data stored digitally within computer memory which then is used by an automatic manufacturing unit like the one Zocca designed. In a world where it will be common for things to just replicate at any place and in many industries with these 3D devices becoming ubiquitous throughout homes and small businesses, we are already seeing rapid improvements and benefits in terms of reduced lead times along with cost savings that are quite remarkable. In their experiment to create end-use components by using a layer upon layer printing method called selective laser sintering or also referred to as 3D powder bed fusion. Their findings revealed increased speeds without sacrificing accuracy which opens new possibilities not only for mass customization but for personalized product production tailored specifically per consumer desires within just one short order period. With a high-quality end result always possible in a wide range of sizes from relatively small ones right up into fairly large pieces thanks to this latest technological advancement allowing designers extra time concentrating more focus upon innovative creation and creativity leading consumers with products exactly meeting their needs and preferences that also meet manufacturing efficiency targets so all those who seek an edge must move forward today embracing advancements available currently on the market.
