I conceptualized this personal endeavor in August 2014, after struggling to locate a printer that met my specific requirements. Following considerable interest from fellow students and educators, coupled with its exposure at various expos, I decided to finalize the design and make it open-source for universal accessibility. The RepRap Leeuwenhoek is named after Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, whose legacy serves as a fitting tribute due to my Dutch roots - I designed and built it in the Netherlands, primarily in Delft. Van Leeuwenhoek, a skilled tradesman, crafted exquisite lenses that he utilized on microscopes during his groundbreaking discoveries, earning him recognition as the father of microbiology. I hope you find this project engaging.
