I used these on my RepRap Guru to prevent the X-axis rods from sliding and rotating excessively. They may need cleaning with a 3mm drill to remove any debris. The design accommodates a 3mm bolt and nut. For variants that include a 6/32 set screw, it can be screwed in directly and will cut threads effectively.
