This printer is a RepRap derivative designed for speed and ample building space. The x-y axis mechanism uses an etch-a-sketch style with two belts, while the z-axis employs three thread rods for motion. The main frame is constructed from a 20mm extruded aluminum profile cube, sizable to your preference (400x400x400 in this case). The custom-designed extruder can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14311, and the electronics at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6480. Pulleys were rendered from a scad script by droftarts (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16627), with thanks. Except for the frame, rods, and standard parts, all components are 3D printed, including edge-connectors that can be extended further if needed. The printer has been tested with axis movements, a video of which is available on Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/50614766), as well as another one showcasing z-axis movement after each layer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=989PFsqJshA). The printer was tested without an extruder but at full speed, and adjustments to printing speed may be necessary. Next steps include installing endstops and integrating the extruder.
