Replicator + Spool Holder (New and Improved)
thingiverse
So I really loved the design of the spool holder made by @Fargo3DPrinting, but I wasn't crazy about the flex or the fact that it wasn't big enough to use the old Makerbot Spools. I remade the design by extending the spool holder out more so there's more room for bigger spools and added some support to make the design even more robust for heavier spools. Now, there's a lot less flex than the original design. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator+ Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: .02 Infill: 10% Notes: Print with less infill but more perimeters. I printed with 5 perimeters. Believe it or not, more infill does not make a print stronger. Printing more perimeters does and doesn't require more infill for the strength. Post-Printing Good off the print bed I noticed that the Rep+ tends to leave little wispy hairs of filament. It was an easy clean up but wanted to point that out. This design is ready to go right off the bed as soon as it's printed. How I Designed This I imported the design as an STL into TinkerCad, then duplicated it in place and used two large rectangular prisms as holes to delete one half of one copy and the other half of the second copy. This essentially splits the design in half. I then used a third copy and got rid of everything except the mid section of the spool holder that sticks out. I then resized as needed and placed it between the two original files, after grouping, the holder is much longer. I then added a simple rectangular prism solid vertically on the design to make it overall more robust and stable.
