Replicator 2X Z-Axis Shims for Glass Plates
thingiverse
To use the glass plate effortlessly, lower your print bed slightly so that it's easy to place a glass surface on top without any extruder nozzles striking the glass. Version 2 of this 3.2mm shim is specifically designed for optimal fit and function. Print the STL file with my suggested settings using a 1/8" glass plate, and position the shim to the left of the z-axis drive shaft, directly under the endstop switch. The notch on the shim faces the back of your printer and fits around a support on the rear side of the board. Gently slide it into place, ensuring a snug fit that clicks without force. To remove it, simply pull up from the front. Be cautious when handling the shim to avoid potential damage to your machine if it gets lodged in an undesirable location. Version 1 of this shim can be printed at .20mm layer height, 2 shells, and 30% infill for a rigid construction. To install, lower your build plate and fit the shim over the back board of the z-carriage, centered behind the rod with the notch facing the rear of your printer. Ensure proper alignment to avoid any issues with your machine.
